This was a nearly perfect book.
It was creepy. It was lush. It was Romantic, in the Gothic, wives-in-the-attic style. (There are no hidden wives, PS) (At least, not in attics).
Noemí is a spoiled socialite who goes to visit her cousin at the behest of her father. They had received an odd letter and things do not seem right in the cousin’s new marriage.
The house is hushed and dark, the walls are molding, and there are secrets everywhere. Now, I know you’re thinking, oh, mold you say? They’re hallucinating. Done and done and yawn.
It’s so much weirder than that.
This was a great story about the power of choice, overcoming one’s nature, and fighting those stronger than yourself. *chef’s kiss*
