Title: The Vine Witch
Genre: Adult Fantasy
Pages: 269
Rating: 5/5
This story is just as lush as its cover. Set in early 20th-century France, Elena fights her way free of a curse to find her beloved vineyard nearly bankrupt. She must fight to protect her home, her freedom, and her magic from those who would steal them all.
I loved this fairytale-esque story. The characters were interesting, the motivations complex, and the consequences real. The magic Smith creates feels realistic and functional, co-existing in our world in some ways and clashing with humans in others. The characters are fallible and deep and the plot engrossing.
